WE GOTTA KEEP OUR COMPOSURE

We ARE NOT going absolutely BATSHIT crazy working too hard on SeaCrit

Rofl, actually got a little sleep so in a much better headspace right now. But honestly it feels good to still be obsessive after all these years, we're hungry as hell for a win after all this time, but we're also not dependent on it as we blather each and every blog.

What matters isn't how good your game is, what matters is how good your game WILL be, and how much fire you still have in your belly, on those fronts we're doing DAMN GOOD!

If anything, we need to concern ourselves with not freakin' the hell out and burning bridges before they're even fully built. Easy to get paranoid and tribal ourselves and make assumptions and that makes an ASS of U and ME.

I'm getting SUPER side tracked trying to figure out what's going on with the android build, I'm noticing shadows REALLY kill the performance, and I'm thinking it might be the complex terrain shaders as well, which is kinda confusing because neither of these gave issues before. It's frustrating because this was all in a good place and to my knowledge we haven't touched anything, but who the heck knows. The build settings are a scattered mess and it's easy to change a setting here or there as all these supposed revolutionary new features come out that are supposed to increase performance. So kinda bummed that right now, on the only device that really needs the performance, it's actually running like ASS, and we have 5000 other things to worry about and our brain is a scrambled mess as we try to get this to be somewhat playable for this damn competition.

We gotta get the content online, we gotta fix the waveswim, we gotta finesse the messaging, we gotta get the phone controls, like holy shit IllTemperedTuna, you're one fucking person, start prioritizing shit and sweat the small stuff later.

So for today, we're going to get SeaCrit lake in, we're going to disable shadows by default so phones at least run KIND OF ok, and we're going to do a few other nicks and knacks.

Some of the stress is our own fault, but a lot of it is tied to the madness of the day and stressing all the decaying tech, and the rising angers and gatekeepings.

BUT YOU KNOW ME! I CAN'T COMPLAIN!

GETTIN' TO WORK SOON!

EDIT: We KINDA finished on time... we made our last commit 15 minutes short of the deadline, but it's an hour later and I'm waiting on this build to finish. I restarted my cmoputer mid build because it seemed to be lagging BIG TIME and I had set the build type to prioritize performance rather than build time, and I didn't want to chance that it might never finish the build, so I cut my losses and I'm 12 minutes into a new build hoping it'll be done within the hour. I don't think it's a huge deal but likely uploading this final build AFTER the competition deadline. WHOOPS!

Pretty hopped up on adrenaline after a crazed 12 hour dev session, I'm actually really proud of today's session! We whooped ass, and bug after bug and revision after revion we went HARD and slaughtered all the shit that needed doing!

As I typed that last sentence the build finished! Fingers crossed there are no huge crash bugs!

EDIT2: So I totally forgot to put the gobblefish that improve a couple of your movement properties, so I went ahead and added those. No catastrophic crashes! Game ran pretty druned well, little lag, so i'm pretty pumped all in all with how things went. We spent literally like 5 minutes getting 2 spawns that have melee and another with ranged, and I just threw 2 items on the ranged fish totally at random.

Probably some horrific bugs i'm not aware of, BUT WHATEVER! Game is kinda sorta getting there and i'm pretty happy with this new iteration. Lots to improve but we're REALLY close to our content pipelines opening up! This build shout be done in about 5 minutes I hope and then this crazed push will be over.

FINAL EDIT: The deed is done. There were a few other things I wanted to fix, floral coral isn't supposed to be bouncy, skuttle sets in too strong at low speeds, and who friggin' knows what else. I'm done. Today was a crazy day. This month was a crazy month. But we made some huge gains and SeaCrit is in as good a spot as it's ever been.

A lot of those gains aren't visible just yet, and I repeat myself, but content should becoming online soon! JUST TWO MORE WEEKS! BAhahahahahahhh... it never ends.

Get SeaCrit
