This song is corny as hell …and I love it
So this is interesting. I entered a Unity contest a few months back and one of the stipulations was to upload it to the Unity play store. We ended up taking 7th place, which ain’t bad! Even got some positive words from the judges at Unity which was really nice of them.
They said the main disqualifying factor was performance issues, BUT THOSE ARE ON ACCOUNT OF YOUR ENGINE ASSHO- err, I mean those are because of inherent performance issues from the Unity web builds themselves, not necessarily SeaCrit XD.
I didn’t bring it up mostly because it was good news, but a recent Unity video reminded me of it and I looked it up and whoa. Our game has 7k plays over there!
That’s pretty crazy considering the game was buggy as hell and totally incomplete!
So this is awesome for a few reasons. It shows we have a place to put our game out there where people will actually play it, it shows that all this effort we put into making it playable on everything everywhere didn’t totally go to waste, and it shows people at least are drawn immediately by the visual elements!

Lots of negative comments but that’s to be expected. Oh and there’s another competition for adventure games that I'll be entering, the timing is perfect because I think this demo will be online soon, so there’s lots to be excited about! Game is coming online, we have a means of getting the game played and some eyes on it… that’s about all we could possibly have asked for.
Oh and since the game is already up and playable, it kinda removes the stage fright of making a first impression so I should go ahead and post it up over there when builds make sense. Nice not to have that nagging question of if we should post builds or not.
Our current situation is regrettable in some ways, but in others, it’s a good thing. We’re isolated, we’re away from any of the craziness of the day. We have laser focus with no distractions to get this game to the spot it needs to be in. Sure I’ve lamented we didn’t have more hands on deck in prior posts, but bringing people on board is always a crap shoot and it can be really intensive and slow down work in the short term.
Right now we are going HARD on this project and we’ve had multiple 10+ hour days the past couple weeks.
It’s really weird actually feeling optimistic about the future. I mean the world is catching fire and everyone wants blood, but hey, THE GAME IS SLOWLY BECOMING NOT ASS! So we’ve got that going for us, which is nice I guess.
You ever go totally crazy trying to find a song that only a small fraction popped into your head? You don’t know the band, you don’t know the song, you just remember it has that one riff at the very start and the singer soes that one grunt.
Well that totally just happened to me and I have no idea why the hell I’m posting it here. But I was about 50% sure the band did a cover of that one band, and I couldn’t remember their name but I knew they did dancing queen. So I looked that up and it was Abba! And then I looked up their other songs and I found the song the other band covered and it was “Lay all your love on me” and then I googled that song and metal cover and got Avastasia. So I loaded them up and just cycled through all their opening songs, and I knew the song just had a whisper at the start, similar to Blood Hound Gang’s, “The Bad Touch” (You and me baby ain’t nothin’ but mammals so lets do it like they do on the discovery channel, where he says “I appreciate it”).
Well I couldn’t find the song, so I started going through other bands that sorta sound like them, like Stratovarious. And I used AI to assist me “What are all the lesser known metal songs that start with whispering?”
And it was driving me crazy, but I figured, “Eh, it’s not going to come to us.” And then for whatever reason I thought, “Well maybe it’s that one band we linked in the blog yesterday” and SHO’ NUFF! I cycle 3 friggin’ songs and it pops up! What are the friggin’ odds!?
Oh last edit, I just realized what song Enlighten me reminds me of... Pure Imagination from Gene Wilders' Willy Wonka movie. This has been some real "I can't remember that song" inception type shit.
