This Too Shall Pass
Light little blerb tonight. Just another crazy day in life!
I've been thinking. We think too much. We point a lot of fingers and accuse others of pointing fingers.
I don't even know what we're trying to say any more. Everyone's been so shitty lately, it's like, "Yeah, they deserve it! Fuck 'em!"
Yeah, everyone's been really fucking shitty to everyone else, and when they were given an inch they took a mile. Everyone else did the same.
It's like why even pick a side? Everyone's just gonna disappoint anyhow.
We'll see how long this one sticks, but it's time to take it easy outside the fish game. It's time to stop getting so worked up over all the madness.
If you want to get worked up about the stupid bullshit in the world, it's REALLY easy these days to find something to be upset about.
Tonight we're going to count our blessings. Feeling pretty ok today and have a little creative energy to push forward and hopefully make this fish game ok.
Balls in our court, sometimes that's all you can hope for in life. Nothin' comes easy and there's no rest for the wicked!
I have some neat ideas for bonuses I want to work on today, kinda want to focus on ranged bonuses and maybe some weapons. We've put so much love into melee we haven't really developed the range in some time.
It doesn't really matter, it all needs doin' at some time or another so might as well dev at the seat of our pants.
Oh, I had an epiphany today. I was getting all bent out of shape worrying about making the world difficult for the player to create well balanced progression bottlenecks. And that goes against everything we've learned so far in game dev.
You DON'T make things hard first! Our job as designers isn't to SCOLD or DEMEAN the player and make them miserable.
Our job workin' on SeaCrit is to try to make the world a better place. No matter how much we've been kicked and stomped into the dirt, no matter how stupid this damned world is. All stewing on that and internalizing all the unfairness of things is just going to make is bitter and miserable. If we're bitter and misrable, we lose, we lose our humanity and we lose our mission.
The song remains the same. We have never waivered and I'm proud as hell about that. We make a fun ass game for everyone, we play no favorites, and we act as the change we want to be. Win some and lose one, the best tomorrow is one where everyone wins, even if everyone's being petty and shitty today.
For the record I can't stand the fuckin' Eagles man! And I could never fucking stand those pretentious, dramatic assholes in Fleetwood Mac, BUT! Credit where it's due, they did have some bangers!
