The Song Remains the Same
It's the weirdest thing. I love Led Zepplin, but i've only been able to truly enjoy them recently. Because when I was younger, THEY PLAYED THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT OF LED ZEPPLIN EVERY SINGLE FUCKING HOUR OF EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY.
So anyway, I was going to write this emo post and cry into a pillow about how everything is hard. And how we're sticking our foot in our mouths on the internet and how life sucks. How we need to focus on SeaCrit, how we can't expect to fix the world, all we can hope to do is work on our stupid little game.
Feelin' a little better now. It's ok if we're a little "sensitive", I think you gotta have flaring emotions if you're going to throw yourself against the wheels over and over and over and try to make "art" or whatever malformed thing SeaCrit is. Yep. So that's it. Same old shit.
The song remains the same.
God damn, I'm listening to this song as I type this and hot fuck can Zeppelin "get the led out". They used to say that 500 times a day on the radio!
Anyway, enough blatherin, enough distractions. Gonna put our head down and crash into the wall making tedious shit for the game.
Not going to be anything exciting, but hopefully we get back to makin' progress all the same and a few upgrades done. Sometimes working on the game actually helps us to feel better, been feeling a little bleh as of late.
BLAH BLAH BITCH MOAN! OFF TO WORK!
Edit: STEALTH BLOG! TITLE: SUPERCHUNK
Super quick one today so i figured I'd slip it in at the tail end of this one.
I spend so much time outlining tasks and grouping shit i gotta do. And today I just had this great encapsulated plan to make ranged fish drop a few types of upgrades instead of becoming gobbleable. As well as adding a new weapon the "Shotgun". I also want to nerf the starting power of the pistols and make their homing and spread more of a bonus to explore. This will make the progression path for ranged way more fun and give these weapons a bit more upgrade paths.
I've come to realize the best plans are nice little chunks you can be excited about for everything to come together. That's the carrot on the stick. The trick is coming up with a nice bite sized chunk.
Oh I just remembered an idea for a bonus I had right before going to sleep! Almost forgot!
"IMPATIENT" A lot of creatures that drop key bonuses will be on spawn timers, and I thought it would be cool to have a bonus that causes these spawns to increment faster (there is a visual timer) if you have this bonus and you are in the spawn area. So you can essentially "Camp" and hasten their spawn, maybe it slowly grows so you don't just sit in one little area forever to get the bonus, but rather after 1 minute you can speed time by 5x for 10 seconds or something. And maybe killing enemies while in the spawn region gives a lump sum time bonus! I think that'd be cool, and really give the sniper a role as a class of weapon as it would allow the player to sit in a spawn area and rifle down enemies from far away to hasten the spawn for bonuses. The alternative to getting bonuses fast would obviously to get really fast and swim all over the ocean to get them, or get really strong so you can kill more enemies. So many elements coming online! I'm pumped!
I think SeaCrit may actually not be crap soon.
Oh! And I've been having great interactions with the guys over at Unity! Never thought I'd see the day but even from a networking perspective things are no longer flatlined!
So yeah... everything has been rocking and rolling as of late, even feeling pretty good today and i've squandered most of it shitposting on teh internet! I gotta get to work before I get tired or feel like shit. PEACE!
After work Edit: Ugh, absolutely terrible day. Fixed so much random crap. I don't even want to look at the project right now. Just one of those days.
