Really, really... REALY REALLY burned out. But also excited to get more work done! Blech
Been workin' pretty hard the past few weeks! Health is holding in there, I really don't have too much to complain about, but I LIKE TO COMPLAIN DAMN IT.
I'm so burned out. 2 weeks ago I thought we were maybe a few days from the game really coming together. 3 weeks later and i've gutted a few systems, fixed a few major bugs that impacted tunings, and found the tasks of creating items and upgrades to be much more daunting than anticipated.
You know... GAMEDEV!
If you know, you know. Nothing is ever easy as you hope it's going to be.
On the bright side, I think I have a solid plan for moving forward. I'm going to just get a rough pass on all the upgrades in the game done, allow EVERY SINGLE BONUS to be spawned as prefixes on items and just start generating items with prefixes and see what feels right, and run into bugs as they come.
I feel much more enthusiastic about this tactic than the idea of making sure each one is perfect and moving on to the next one arduously. It also gives me the opportunity to feel if an upgrade is even worth keeping or not before investing too much time into it.
Ugh. We've stewed so many years in this damned cave. What's a couple more weeks?
Work is going well. Just so ready for the smallest of wins, but in the meantime, there is drudgery that needs doing. Wish I could say a new demo was on the way but right now it's 2 steps forward and 5 steps back, so gonna be a bit before a new build is superior to the old one.
In the meantime: WORK WORK WORK!
Ok, enough dilly dally, got a 3 hour session in earlier, had some frozen burritos, time to get back to it.
Edit: Crazy day of running in circles fixing tertiary things. BUT! On a whim I added some new waveswim polish and I think i'm FINALLY almost happy with it. Gotta tune some values up but I FINALLY have a core system that I think feels good. Added a new decaying recent oscillation system that increases speed if you oscillate really fast, as well as cleaned up and simplified the waveswim generation/ decay mechanics. Feeling much better as well as lots of other important tiding ups! Overall a solid day.
