Relativity
Wasn't gonna make a blog today, but a couple thoughts came to mind as I was cookin' up dinner, and they both fit perfectly under the title of "relativity" and i figured F*CK IT, let's do a quick little blerb.
So two things struck me tonight, I was thinking about the notion of relativity and how important raw creative talent in ventures of creativity. If you're digging ditches, if you're building houses, a group of tiny 12 year olds can do the same ammount of work as a large mountain of a man. Your work force doesn't really matter, just throw bodies at it.
But a work of creativity will only be as potent as its tightest bottleneck. You really gotta find the people who know how to cook up the "SeaCrit" sauce.
And then I got to thinking about other crazy things, and I was thinking about the relativity of time as it pertains to our culture. How if you work in a certain area, or if you have this or that circle of friends, it can be like living in a sort of social time machine. And I thought about how I was working in Portland for a bit, and how for me, it was like I was living in the future, I was experiencing cultural change well ahead of everyone else, and it was influencing how I view the state of things, of cultural norms and policy type things. How I judged certain people with certain ideals.
If you go back 30 years, politics was so different and the demographics behind certain ideals were different and the temperment of people and their reasonings and who they ally with was all so damned different than it is today.
It's it's kinda sad to think about, because a lot of the butting of heads we do today results from these discrepencies of relative time, of perceptions and experiences. And a lot of times we may have common goals, but because of our lived experiences and lenses through which we see the world, we can percieve others are allies or enemies with distortions.
Crazy world we live in! ANYWAY alarm is going off, gotta go eat!
