An old school blather

Feelin' a little nostalgic, figured we'd let loose with a blather like we used to and go full neckbeard.

If you're an older dev like me, you might remember a time of common sense. Just basic obvious things that we took for granted dictated our lives. People who work hard and are good at what they do should be in charge of sh*t. REALLY simple concept.

But things get a little weird when you start adding in our cognitive dissonances. We tribalistic, self centered, rightous monkeys are really good at lying to others, and even better at believing our own BS.

A vegan eating a vegie burger is going to taste their own virtue in the patty, they can savor the lack of animal suffering. And in all frankess, this is good! People should enjoy the sacrifices and bits of self righteousness for truly making the world a better place.

But we've gone down some rabbit holes, we've empowered and platformed a great many people who rely soaly on that self rightousness, they enjoy the pungent scent of their own excrements a tad too much without turning that refuse into tillable soil.

We've gone so far up our own arses that we now value destruction over creation. A great many very smart and very talented people who have survived in this insanity machine or now burried deep in these holes, burried in self satisfaction, invested fully in the notion that you can make the world a better place, you can have the world, so long as you stand in oposition to true progress, if you get in the way of others succeeding. If you scratch back and circle jerks handing out jobs in this game of victimhood musical chairs.

Good god do I repeat myself. This stuff isn't even interesting to talk about any more. Does anyone believe in this dog sh*t any more? People just trying to save face and maintain their comfort levels for doing the easy job of scratching backs and not rocking boats. We've become so weak and coddeled and devoid of true purpose.

I never understood the concept of the big lie when I was younger, we had too much common sense back then, we had too many mindful adults in the room ensuring a certain level of principle, talent and hard work were in the room, responsibility to our purpose over our own petty bullsh*t..

Those days are long over. In north korea they are told their supreme leader doesn't use the restroom. He is an infallable being, and it's against the law to even speak ill of this person. How could people live this way? Why would we allow such a terrible system where just a small handfull have such undeserved power over others? Thank goodness we lived in a better society I used to think. What a bizzare world to live in...

And yet here we are. Think the right things, don't criticize certain individuals or groups. Scratch all the right backs, don't rock the boat, smile and nod and maybe you'll get your little place at the table.

Same old crap I always blather about I know... just trying to figure out this crazy, messed up world. The sad thing is, the better you understand it, the less you fit. We live in a world where the inmates run the asylum. Better to drink the kool aide, better to believe the big lie and cut all others down in service to the ruling factions so you can get your ill gotten crumbs.

ANYWAY! Let's talk about the game a little bit.

Haven't been feeling great but hoping to  get to work soon. I've come to realize the game will be better if I remove several mechanics and make them upgrades. So I will be removing the passive bonus attack speed and attack damage for combo attacks with bites and melee swings. This will allow me to pepper in more progression and make these mechanics better balanced while giving me a nice little bonus tooltip to explain how the mechanics work.

OH! Almost forgot, played the game today with keyboard and I'm REALLY happy with how it's coming together. I genuinely think it's becoming fun, and there are so many systems all coming online and FINALLY being more fun than novelty. So it's this exciting moment where the game isn't getting a little bit better here and there, it's becoming exponentially better as I add more chunks, more tutorial areas, improve progression and polish up various systems. I'm REALLY digging the keyboard controls, and because I developed these controls to work well on controllers which aren't as accurate as mouse control, that extra usability translates well to keyboard. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for now!

Plan remains the same, we're going to be getting various systems online and pepper in things from the player perspective, building from the start of the game and actually playing the game and changing level layouts and enemies based on what I feel is most fun. At the end i'll likely have to lower enemy health by 40% and enemy damage by 50% for the early area as someone who plays this foresaken game every day so i'll think it's too easy, but that's easy to do.

Good lord every blog I feel like i have to repeat every thought and notion i've ever had! oh well! There's a giant mess of reregurgitated thoughts and plans. In the stead of getting work done today, I figured i'd at the very least do a little blatherin' get the head in the game and all that.

Back to work soon! Nothing on the to do list, gonna play the game and try to make it fun, and we've been doing a pretty good job of that as of late!
