When the heck am I going to get back to work!?
I've been refactoring and refenagling things so damned much the past week I don't even know what reality is any more.
"If I fix this i'll be so much more damned productive!"
It's been a solid week of 8+ hours days of balls to the wall code and revision and I haven't gotten any damned work done to the darned game. And I was only 2 days away from the whole thing coming together! THE MATH DON'T MAKE SENSE!
I'm going to allow myself to set up a couple more things and then I'm done with refactors, it's time to start tuning stuff and making the game better. You get into these grooves where you start cleaning things and you can't stop. It's not a bad thing, it's not necessarily a good thing either, because as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well I don't like how i do a lot of player references, I do a find gameobject at the start of everything and I assign the player to that variable, and it's really wonky so i'm going to see if I can create a new instance reference and never deal with this shit again.
It's weird, when you're working on a video game, a "break" can be taking a full week to stop finagling with your core systems and to clean up code in other ways. You get so darned burned out tuning force values, that sometimes you just need a break to deal with object references and to implement Odin inspector and get your UI sorted.
It's crazy how fast things can escalate sometimes, I made this innocuous post wondering if there was a better way of exposing and hiding variables, and next thing I know I'm down a rabbit whole refactoring how the entirity of my game functions with its base variables implementing odin inspector.
