There will be bugs
Sometimes I think I should make these blog posts less scattered, less about seacrit specifically, and write crap that is more in line with the sorts of media that ends up ruminating through the internets. But for better or worse I just throw up verbal splats of random blatherings and when the game is decent maybe it will start generating its own buzz. It's not lost on me that I have no idea wtf I'm doing.
The thought crossed my mind that I am at the point in time that I can start generating the content for this game, and by complete accident, SEACRETS are going to be a key design element. I didn't plan it this way, it just sorta happened, a "happy accident" it's often referred to, "emergent gameplay, is another.
So i've been spending all this time developing a wealth of potential upgrades, and I'm finding that the type of play for seacrit doesn't lend itself for complex item mods and min maxing in a general sense, this leaves a lot of room for secondary sources of power like shops, dropped potions, and seacrit items! So my mind is going through the process of imagining what the game COULD BE, if i added a bit more adventure. Imagine cavernous areas where the danger comes from the environment, not enemy fish, imagine corridors and open areas with no enemies where the player can take a moment to think or just poke around and look for hidden secrets akin to Metroid.
Long story short, I want to add the elements of adventure, of treasure hunting, of exploration and more pacing to what is already an expanding core of combat layered on top of the core experience I've been building up over the years.
Burned out as hell, but there's more to do...
Taking my own advice, going down into the weeds in my heads too much, thinking how I need to set up the systems for underwater open air caves, for secondary sources of damage, sorting these things in your head is 100% counter productive, you feel as though you've done the work before you've even done a single line of code. So enough chatting, time to put on some tunes and get to work.
