Burning the candle at both ends the past couple months
So damned happy to have had energy and resolve to work on this game as of late, but pushing myself to work through burnout is really starting to catch up with me.
Usually I think of the game and I know exactly what I'm working towards, I know the goal, I know what i'm going to iterate on to achieve the larger vision. But lately I've been crunching so hard and pushing thruogh burnout that I feel like I really just need a fucking break to recharge. Tasks you can power through, but the problem is my task list is mostly empty and you need to be in a certain state of mind to be able to generate meaningful tasks and not spin wheels in mud.
But who knows, I need to get this tuned up as best I can for that OTK gamejam thing so i'm going to try to just push through it. Maybe I fire up the demo and I'm able to come up with things to fix and tune, or maybe I'm just being overly dramatic and once things get going everything falls into place and I find the groove, it will be what it is.
Getting a bit of feedback from a few people today who were kind enough to try the game, so that will be my todo list tomorrow. And the goal today is to fill out the submission form and this this sucker entered into the OTK competition so that will be off my mind and I can focus on getting work done tommorow knowing it's submitted. It's nice to have Itch.io here to easily update the game and it will propogate elsewhere automagically.
I begrudgingly updated the web build, which i don't like because Unity has some nasty audio issues in the web buildw here music tracks don't loop, and lots of stuttering while it streams assets the first time which makes the experience a lot worse on top of general performance issues, but I recognize how convienient it is for people to just click and play so I have finally decided to update the web build. The build process becomes a lot more of a Pain in the ass making multiple builds as well, so all in all I try not to worry about the web builds too much and I'm going to be putting an exlpicit warning at the start warning the player that the web build is likely dated and has several issues for performance and that they should be playing teh stand alone build.
Some damned good sessions of dev lately, burned out but pushing through and making solid progress:
I already linked Livin' on a Prayer so here's some Top PettyGet SeaCrit
